Four Horned Antelope (Tetracerus quadricornis) belongs to Artiodactyla Order and Bovidae Family. It is native to Nepal and Southern part of India. It is found in Parsa National Park, Chitwan National Park, Banke National Park, Bardia National Park and surrounding areas of Nepal. The lifespan of four horned antelope is 8 to 10 years. The body is brownish to red in colour. The male has four horns in its head. Its height is 0.65 m and weight is about 15 kg to 25 kg. The gestation period of four horned antelope is 7.6 to 8.1 months. It is listed as a vulnerable species in the IUCN Red List category and Appendix I of CITES. National red list of mammals categorizes it as a data deficient species. The legal status of this species in Nepal is Protected (Appendix I) under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1973. It is protected because of its heavy habitat loss. It is traded in national and international markets due to meat and skin.
